I'm 50!

Yup, that's right! I turned 50 this past Sunday! Can you believe that??!!?? I can't! I still feel the same, it just seems so weird to be half a century old! When my mom was 50, I was 30 and here I am at 50 with a 13 year old!!! He keeps me young!

Have I mentioned that not only am I 50, but I'm also unemployed? Last Friday was my last day at Ascot, where I've been for the last nine years. Since all their business relies on the RV & Manufactured Housing industries and that is very slow right now, I got laid off. If the industry picks back up, I was assured they'd call me back. As for now, I'm rather enjoying some time off! I've filed for unemployment online, which is pretty cool! No more standing in line for hours! Debbie, remember when I had to do that in WV so I'd drive to Point Pleasant? I remember you going with me and we stopped to have lunch with Paula Zickafoose! That was a year or two ago - at least!!!!!!

Justin had his 2nd track meet yesterday. He didn't place in shot put or discus, but he had fun! They have another meet tomorrow night that will be four hours long since it involves both boys and girls. I'm not sure my backside can take those metal bleachers that long! David and I are thinking about going to watch him, then coming home. He is supposed to stay to support the team. We will gladly make the 8 mile drive back to get him!
We have a busy weekend coming up. Justin is bowling in the state bowling tournament about and hour and a half west of here. He's going down with our neighbors, who also have a son on his team. They're leaving after school Friday. David and I have Josh & Laramie's wedding, which he's running sound for and I'm helping with the reception so we won't join the bowlers until Sunday morning. We hate missing church, but the major part of the tournament is on Sunday. I think God will understand!

Last weekend was our Northern Indiana Women of the Church of God Convention. It was nearby this year so that was nice for us. It was a great convention. Linda Mirante, a ministry director from a large Church of Christ in Wabash, IN was the speaker and she's awesome! We had her a few years ago and just loved her. Anyone looking for and entertaining, inspirational speaker should definitely look into contacting Linda! You'll feel like you've always known her and you'll laugh yourself silly at times!

I should really be getting off here and do something constructive! I have the washer and dryer going. How is that for my exciting life??!?!?!?!?!??

Another Rainy Day

Ok, Amanda! This is for you! I'm updating!

This week is spring break and I've been ready for school to start back since about 45 minutes after it began! It's a good thing I work the switchboard since half this week's calls have been from my son! At least I'm grateful he's checking in! He's usually asking for money or a ride somewhere, but I always know where he is! Right now, he and his "posse" are at the church playing Wii games. I spent my lunch hour picking up and dropping off boys! Tomorrow, David is taking off to do things with Justin. That will be nice - father/son bonding time and mother quiet time! Even though I'll be at work, David can deal with things!

We have a group from our church going to Honduras this summer for a missions trip. Saturday they're having a garage sale so I saw my opportunity to get rid of a few things. Our basement looks more like a king-size storage locker than a basement! At least it isn't like at Mom's (which is now Alan's!). I think all the junk in the basement is holding the house up! I know I have clothes from the 70's she never got rid of!!! Anyway, Justin & I filled up the back of our van and you still can't tell we've made a dent in it! When we built our house three years ago, we moved from just over 1,700 square feet to just under 1,200! Makes a big difference! I definitely like smaller though. It's nice having half my junk in boxes instead of spread out all over the place! I don't even miss it! Maybe I should take the boxes to the church without opening them and just get rid of everything!

I don't have any pictures for my blog yet because I haven't had time to figure out exactly how to do it! I don't take as many pictures as I used to either. Those of you that have known me forever will remember that I always took pictures everywhere we went of everyone we knew! I have some awesome memories - and they're all sitting in bags and boxes all over the place! I do like scrapbooking, but I've only made it up to kindergarten with Justin's and he's now in 7th grade! I also did a Bible study for scrapbookers about three years ago and started a book for me. How far do you think I got on that one? Well, sad to say, only about 4 pages! I'm terrible! I have great intentions!

It's been pouring the rain all day and there has been snow mixed with it part of the time! Yuck! I thought we were done with that! They say if you don't like the weather in Indiana, just wait a few minutes and it will change! That's not far from the truth! Especially this winter. We had crazy mixed up days and went over 70 days in a row with either rain or snow, mostly snow! Don't you Southerners with you were here??!!??

Time to venture out in the rain to pick up my child and whomever else he may have collected today! Have a wonderful rest of your week!

OK, this is my first attempt at this so we'll see what happens! Meghan, you've been my inspiration! You're so good at this!!! I wish you'd write everyday because I love keeping up on you guys!

It's a rainy, gloomy day here in Northern Indiana. But, that's much better than a snowy, gloomy day, which we've totally had enough of!!! At long last, it's another much anticipated Friday! I only have to work until 4:00 today. David has to go to Kokomo to a funeral home visitation for the mother of one of his work buddies so Justin & I are going shopping! My friends, Renie & Noah are going with us. We're going to the new Bed, Bath & Beyond to shop for a wedding gift for a shower we're going to tomorrow. Justin said he was glad "Grandpa" was going, too because he didn't want to be out with so many women!

Tomorrow morning we'll be off to Goshen for Justin's bowling league. He's been in a league for six years now and still loves it. His average is a lot better than mine ever was! We'll go grocery shopping on the way home. Since Nappanee is in the middle of nowhere, we have to make the most of our trips when we're 0ut and about! When we get home from there, David & Justin are going out to help a friend remodel his old farmhouse. Josh is the oldest son of close friends of our's and he's getting married in a few weeks. It would be nice if they had a house to move into! While they're out doing that, Renie & I are going to a bridal shower for our pastor's daughter. It's going to be a tea at a Victorian bed & breakfast so we're really looking forward to that! Am I supposed to dress up for it??!!?? I don't usually get to go to fancy things! Nicole isn't a fancy person, so I'm sure whatever I wore would be fine with her! She's so down to earth and a wonderful Christian girl.

I don't have a lot to write about that would interest most people, but I thought I'd give this a shot! Maybe I'll even learn to put a picture or two in someday! For now, bear with me and maybe someday there'll be some excitement to write about!!!
